WhatBox

Terms

Plain versions of the rules. They are the actual terms, not a summary of terms kept somewhere else.

Your licence

A licence lets you install and use WhatBox on the number of machines it covers — two unless yours says otherwise. It is yours to use for your own selling, or your business's. You may move a machine off a licence and put another one on whenever you like from your licence page.

The software is licensed, not sold. You may not resell it, rent it out, or redistribute it.

Trials

A trial gives you everything for fourteen days with no card. One trial per person and one per machine — not per email address, so a second mailbox will not produce a second trial.

Codes

A redemption code adds time to a licence. Codes can expire, can be limited to a number of uses, and can be withdrawn before they are used. Time already added to your licence by a code stays yours: withdrawing a code stops it being redeemed again, it does not claw back days from anyone who already used it.

Paying, and stopping paying

A subscription is $11.99 per month. That figure includes any sales tax or VAT due where you are, so it is what you pay rather than what you pay before tax. Payment is taken by Paddle, our merchant of record: they are the seller on your statement, they handle the card and the tax, and we never see your card details.

A subscription runs until you cancel it. Cancel and you keep access to the end of the period you have already paid for.

Time you already hold

Subscribe while you still have days left from a trial or a code and those days are added to your first paid period, not swallowed by it. If you had eight days left, your first payment covers a month and then eight days more before anything is charged again.

So there is never a reason to wait. Paying the day you decide costs you nothing compared with paying on the last day of a trial.

Refunds

Ask within thirty days of a payment and you get it back, no reason needed. After that, cancel any time and your access runs to the end of the period you have paid for. The trial exists so that you can find out before you pay.

The full refund policy says how to ask and how long the money takes to come back. It says the same thing as this clause.

When we can end a licence

We may revoke a licence for a chargeback, for fraud, or for sharing one key across more machines than it covers. We record a reason every time we do it, and if you think a revocation is wrong, ask — the record exists precisely so the question can be answered.

What we do not promise

WhatBox runs on your computer and prints to your printer, and it reads sales from platforms we do not control. We cannot promise a show will go perfectly, that a platform will not change how it works, or that a printer will behave.

The software is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost sales, lost time, or consequential losses, and any liability we do have is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the problem.

Your show data lives on your machine and we never receive it, which also means we cannot restore it. Keep your own backups.

Service availability

The licensing service is not in the path between you and a show. If it is unavailable, WhatBox keeps working on the licence your computer already holds — that is a design decision, not a courtesy. We do not offer a formal uptime commitment.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced before they take effect, and if you do not accept them you may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of any unused prepaid time.
